Streptococcus pyogenes real-time PCR

Description

Streptococcus pyogenes (Group A Strep, GAS) can produce a spectrum of clinical syndromes in humans that range from superficial infection of the pharyngeal mucosa to invasive infection of deep tissues or the blood stream. This real-time PCR assay targets the gene coding for CsrR protein, which is part of a regulatory system that controls expression of several virulence determinants in Streptococcus pyogenes. The GAS-CsrR PCR is multiplexed with an internal control PCR to detect Streptococcus pyogenes DNA in clinical material whilst controlling both the extraction and amplification procedures.

Also known as

S. pyogenes PCR, Strep pyogenes PCR, group A streptococcus PCR, group A strep PCR
