Viral Whole Genome Sequencing – Service Summary
Viral Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) is performed at the
Institute of Child Health Pathogen Genomics Unit (PGU). The
Microbiology department at GOSH can facilitate nucleic acid
extraction and reporting of results.
This is not a UKAS accredited service.
Viral WGS service is available for the following viruses:
Varicella Zoster Virus (please note this replaces previous
PCR-based VZV services offered at GOSH):
- Genotypic antiviral resistance testing
- Molecular typing of post-vaccine rashes for differentiation
between vaccine and wild type virus in rashes occurring <42 days
post vaccination.
Cytomegalovirus
- Genotypic antiviral resistance testing
Adenovirus
- Genotypic antiviral resistance testing
